| Ô tyran Hérode, ne t’inquiète pas trop. Tu n’as pas réussi à tuer le Roi des Juifs, mais tes successeurs, les Ponce Pilate et les Caïphe, réussiront là où tu as échoué, et une mère et un Père viendront ajouter leurs larmes à celles de Rachel. | O tyrant Herod, don’t worry too much. You have failed to kill the King of the Jews but your successors Poncius Pilate - and Caiaphas will succeed and a mother and a Father will mix their tears to the tears of Rachel. |
| Mais cependant inquiète-toi quand même un peu. Car Quelqu’un là-haut n’accepte pas que les larmes des petits soient passées par pertes et profits. Alors Il n’a pas laissé éteindre la lumière qui a commencé de briller à la Nativité. | And yet be a little bit worried, because Someone up there does not accept that the small ones’ tears be written off. He then didn’t let the Light which has begun to shine at the Nativity be put out. |
| Chers frères et sœurs, en ce jour des Saints Innocents [1], la lumière de la Nativité révèle la noirceur du monde. | Dear brothers and sisters, in the Feast of the Holy Innocents [2], the Light of the Nativity is revealing some of the darkness of the world. |
| Alors faut-il regretter la venue de la lumière ? N’aurait-il pas mieux valu continuer comme avant : tourne le manège et tant pis s’il broie les petits – on ne peut pas faire autrement, n’est-ce pas ? | Would not it have been better for the Light not to come ? Would not it have been better to go on like we used to : please go on spinning, merry-go-round, and never mind if it crushes the small ones on its way : it can’t be helped, can it ? |
| Oui, cela aurait mieux valu si cette lumière était une lumière de rayons X, une lumière glaçante qui ne peut montrer qu’un monde centré sur lui-même, mû uniquement par la force, l’intérêt et le calcul. | Yes, it would have been better if this light was a X-ray light, a cold light which can only show a world moved solely by power, self-interest and calculation. |
| Cette lumière-là ne peut que refroidir les coeurs, elle ne peut que faire désespérer du monde et de soi, et c’est pour moi une fausse lumière. | This kind of light can only freeze of the heart and cause despair of the world and of one self. This kind of light is a false light according to me. |
| Le Christ est la vraie lumière qui, en venant dans le monde, révèle et rehausse sa beauté colorée - car notre monde n’est pas que laideurs et noirceurs comme une volonté perverse voudrait nous le faire croire. | Christ is the true Light which, as it comes into our world, reveals and enhances its colourful beauty – because our world cannot be reduced to sheer ugliness and darkness as an evil will would like us to believe. |
| Certes, la vraie lumière éclaire nos plaies, mais c’est pour les assainir, les guérir. La vraie lumière réchauffe le coeur qui se remet à palpiter, à faire confiance, à espérer, à aimer. | This true Light indeed lights up our wounds, but it is in order to clean and heal them. The true Light warms up the heart, it makes it palpitate again, trust again, hope again, love again. |
| Le regard du Christ nous relève, il nous aspire vers le haut, vers le ciel, vers le Père. Dans sa lumière, nous faisons l’expérience de la vérité qui libère et qui rend heureux : “tu es mon fils, ma fille, aujourd’hui, je mets mon amour et rien ne pourra te séparer de moi”. | The look of Christ makes us stand up again, it sucks us upwards to the sky, to the heaven, to the Father. In its Light we experience the Truth which makes us free and happy : “You are my son, my daughter, today I put my love in you and nothing can separate you from me”. |

Matthieu 2,13-18 - Matthew 2:13-18
| 彼らが帰って行ったのち、見よ、主の使が夢でヨセフに現れて言った、「立って、幼な子とその母を連れて、エジプトに逃げなさい。そして、あなたに知らせるまで、そこにとどまっていなさい。ヘロデが幼な子を捜し出して、殺そうとしている」。 | 13 Après leur départ, voici que l’ange du Seigneur apparaît en songe à Joseph et lui dit : « Lève-toi, prends avec toi l’enfant et sa mère, et fuis en Égypte ; restes-y jusqu’à nouvel ordre, car Hérode va rechercher l’enfant pour le faire périr. » | 3 And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word : for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him. |
| そこで、ヨセフは立って、夜の間に幼な子とその母とを連れてエジプトへ行き、 | 14 Joseph se leva, prit avec lui l’enfant et sa mère, de nuit, et se retira en Égypte. | 14 When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt : |
| ヘロデが死ぬまでそこにとどまっていた。それは、主が預言者によって「エジプトからわが子を呼び出した」と言われたことが、成就するためである。 | 15 Il y resta jusqu’à la mort d’Hérode, pour que s’accomplisse ce qu’avait dit le Seigneur par le prophète : D’Égypte, j’ai appelé mon fils. | 15 And was there until the death of Herod : that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son. |
| さて、ヘロデは博士たちにだまされたと知って、非常に立腹した。そして人々をつかわし、博士たちから確かめた時に基いて、ベツレヘムとその附近の地方とにいる二歳以下の男の子を、ことごとく殺した。 | 16 Alors Hérode, se voyant joué par les mages, entra dans une grande fureur et envoya tuer, dans Bethléem et tout son territoire, tous les enfants jusqu’à deux ans, d’après l’époque qu’il s’était fait préciser par les mages. | 16 Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently enquired of the wise men. |
| こうして、預言者エレミヤによって言われたことが、成就したのである。 | 17 Alors s’accomplit ce qui avait été dit par le prophète Jérémie : | 17 Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, |
| 「叫び泣く大いなる悲しみの声が／ラマで聞えた。ラケルはその子らのためになげいた。子らがもはやいないので、慰められることさえ願わなかった」。 | 18 Une voix dans Rama s’est fait entendre, des pleurs et une longue plainte : c’est Rachel qui pleure ses enfants et ne veut pas être consolée, parce qu’ils ne sont plus. | 18 In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not. |
