| L’Évangile d’aujourd’hui [1] nous rappelle la double filiation, le double héritage de Jésus, et cela résonne particulièrement en moi qui descends d’un père vietnamien et d’une mère française. | Today’s Gospel [2] reminds us of the double parentage, the double heritage of Jesus and it echoes particularly in me who descend form a Vietnamese father and a French mother. |
| L’ange Gabriel avait déjà donné à entendre la double filiation de Jésus dans son annonce à la Vierge Marie : | The angel Gabriel already told us about this double filiation of Jésus in the Annunciation to the Virgin Mary : |
| « Il sera grand et sera appelé fils du Très-Haut – Jésus est donc fils de Dieu ; | He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. Jesus is the Son of God then. |
| le Seigneur Dieu lui donnera le trône de David son père – Jésus est aussi fils de David ; » | The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David - Then Jesus is David’s son |
| Jésus a bien deux pères si l’on suit l’ange Gabriel. | According to the angel Gabriel, Jesus does have two fathers. |
| Saul – Paul vit lui aussi une double ascendance comme le signifie son double prénom : Saul le juif et Paul le citoyen romain. | Saul – Paul lives also a double heritage : he is Saul the Jew and Paul the Roman citizen. |
| Dans ce que nous les chrétiens nous appelons l’Ancien Testament, on trouve aussi un personnage très important au double héritage : Moïse qui avait deux mères, l’une juive et l’autre égyptienne. | We can find in what the Christians call the Old Testament another very important character with two heritages : Moses who had two mothers, one Jewish and the other Egpyptian. |
| Jésus unit en sa personne une double ascendance, comme il unit en lui les deux natures humaine et divine, indissolublement, sans mélange ni confusion ni dommage pour aucune d’entre elles : il n’est pas moins homme parce qu’il est Dieu, il n’est pas moins Dieu parce qu’il est homme. | Jesus unites in his person the double ancestry as he unites in himself the human and divine nature indissolubly without mixing nor confusion nor damage for any of them : he is no less a man because he is God and he is no less God because he is a man. |
| Jésus, par sa double filiation, fait bouger les lignes entre Dieu et la création, il communique à notre commune nature humaine quelque chose de sa nature divine, il l’enrichit, il la féconde, il la rend sublime, divine - sans l’aliéner et encore moins sans l’anéantir - non, il l’amène à une perfection que nous ne pouvions même pas imaginer dans nos rêves les plus fous. | Thanks to his double filiation, Jesus is able to move the lines between God and Creation, il communicates something from his divine nature to our common human nature, he enriches it, he fertilizes it, he makes it sublime, divine - without hurting it let alone annihlating it - no, but he takes it to a perfection far beyond our wildest imagination. |
| Jésus est 100% Dieu, 100 % homme – et cela n’est pas un problème pour lui. | Jesus is 100% human and he is 100% divine – and this is not a problem for him |
| Mais cela peut en être un pour nous qui aimons les choses bien rangées dans les cases, les frontières fixes entre les territoires, nous qui aimons les exclusives des « Ou bien .. ou bien.. ». | But it can be a problem for us who enjoy so much putting things in boxes and deiimiting territories with fixed frontiers, we who are so fond of the exclusive statements of « Either or else » |
| Alors peut-être avons-nous à entrer dans sa façon mystérieuse d’être, de vivre, lui qui aime les inclusives des « et… et… ». | Then perhaps we have to learn his mysterious life stlyle from Jesus who is so fond of incluse statements of « And… And… » |
| Ainsi par exemple, Jésus qui aime les bons ET les méchants – il tient cela de son Père. | For instance Jesus loves the good and the bad – he got it from his Father |

| イエスは神殿の境内で教えていたとき、こう言われた。「どうして律法学者たちは、『メシアはダビデの子だ』と言うのか。 | 35 Prenant la parole, Jésus enseignait dans le temple. Il disait : « Comment les scribes peuvent-ils dire que le Messie est fils de David ? | 35 And Jesus answered and said, while he taught in the temple, How say the scribes that Christ is the Son of David ? |
| ダビデ自身が聖霊を受けて、こう言っている。／『主は、私の主に言われた。／「私の右に座れ／私があなたの敵を／あなたの足台とするときまで。」』 | 36 David lui-même, inspiré par l’Esprit Saint, a dit : Le Seigneur a dit à mon Seigneur : Siège à ma droite jusqu’à ce que j’aie mis tes ennemis sous tes pieds. | 36 For David himself said by the Holy Ghost, The LORD said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool. |
