| Aujourd’hui [1], Jésus nous rappelle une priorité absolue : entrer dans le Royaume de Dieu. Pour cela, il faut deux choses que les enfants ont naturellement et que nous avons à retrouver : le désir de grandir et la confiance dans les aînés qui nous ont précédés. | Today [2] Jesus is reminding us of the absolute priority of entering the Kingdom of Heaven. It requires two things that the children have naturally and that we have to get back : the desire to grow up and the trust in the elder who walked the path before us |
| – L’enfant sait qu’il est petit, et il veut grandir, il veut ressembler à son grand frère. Il veut marcher et parler comme lui. Il veut devenir un être humain accompli, un adulte, pour pouvoir épouser sa mère ou son père (sur ce dernier point, il changera d’idée en cours de route). | – The child knows he is small and he wants to grow up, he wants to be like his big brother. He wants to be able to walk and talk like him. He wants to become an accomplished human being, a grown-up, so that he can marry his mother or her father – the child will change his / her mind along the way as far as the last point is concerned. |
| Nous aussi, nous avons à faire grandir l’homme intérieur, à quitter l’homme animé par la vie terrestre pour devenir un homme animé par l’Esprit de Dieu, par le principe de la vie divine. | We too have to make the inner man grow, quit the man driven by earthly life to become the man inspired by the Spirit of God, by the principle of divine life. |
| – Pour grandir, l’enfant doit faire confiance à ceux qui l’ont précédé sur le chemin de la maturité. | – To grow up, the child must trust the adults who have reached maturity |
| L’enfant apprend à obéir à ses parents même s’il ne comprend pas encore tout ce qu’ils lui demandent, il accepte d’être corrigé quand il agit mal. | The child learns to obey his parents even if he does not yet fully understand what they want, he accepts to be corrected when he acts badly. |
| L’enfant croit que sur ce chemin d’apprentissage, lui aussi pourra un jour devenir un adulte responsable de lui-même et de ses gestes. | The child believes that one day, on this learning path, he too will be able to become an adult responsible for himself and his deeds |
| Comme une plante, l’enfant a besoin d’un tuteur pour pousser vers le haut, jusqu’à ce qu’un jour il soit devenu suffisamment solide pour s’en passer. | Just like a plant, the child needs a stake to grow upwards, until one day he is strong enough to make do without it |
| Et nous aussi, pour grandir dans la vie spirituelle, nous avons à faire confiance à notre grand frère Jésus Christ et aux aînés qui l’ont suivi. | We too need to trust in our big brother Jesus Christ and in the elder who followed him if we want to grow in the spiritual life. |
| Je conclus : le Christ s’est fait petit enfant et il a appris à devenir fils d’homme et fils de Dieu. | My conclusion. Christ made himself a little child who had to learn how to become a son of man and a son of God. |
| – Il a voulu grandir jusqu’à embrasser toute l’humanité et toute la création pour les réintégrer dans le plan d’amour divin. | – He wanted to grow up to the point of embracing the whole mankind and the whole Creation to reintegrate them into the project of divine love. |
| – Il a fait confiance à son Père des cieux et au couple de Marie et Joseph. | – He trusted his Heavenly Father and the wonderful couple of Mary and Joseph |

| そのとき、弟子たちがイエスのところに来て、「いったいだれが、天の国でいちばん偉いのでしょうか」と言った。 | 1 À cette heure-là, les disciples s’approchèrent de Jésus et lui dirent : « Qui donc est le plus grand dans le Royaume des cieux ? » | At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven ? |
| そこで、イエスは一人の子供を呼び寄せ、彼らの中に立たせて、 | 2 Appelant un enfant, il le plaça au milieu d’eux | 2 And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, |
| 言われた。「はっきり言っておく。心を入れ替えて子供のようにならなければ、決して天の国に入ることはできない。 | 3 et dit : « En vérité, je vous le déclare, si vous ne changez et ne devenez comme les enfants, non, vous n’entrerez pas dans le Royaume des cieux. | 3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. |
| 自分を低くして、この子供のようになる人が、天の国でいちばん偉いのだ。 | 4 Celui-là donc qui se fera petit comme cet enfant, voilà le plus grand dans le Royaume des cieux. | 4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. |
| わたしの名のためにこのような一人の子供を受け入れる者は、わたしを受け入れるのである。」 | 5 Qui accueille en mon nom un enfant comme celui-là, m’accueille moi-même. | 5 And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me. |
| 「しかし、わたしを信じるこれらの小さな者の一人をつまずかせる者は、大きな石臼を首に懸けられて、深い海に沈められる方がましである。 | 6 « Mais quiconque entraîne la chute d’un seul de ces petits qui croient en moi, il est préférable pour lui qu’on lui attache au cou une grosse meule et qu’on le précipite dans l’abîme de la mer. | 6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea. |
| 世は人をつまずかせるから不幸だ。つまずきは避けられない。だが、つまずきをもたらす者は不幸である。 | 7 Malheureux le monde qui cause tant de chutes ! Certes il est nécessaire qu’il y en ait, mais malheureux l’homme par qui la chute arrive ! | 7 Woe unto the world because of offences ! for it must needs be that offences come ; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh ! |
| もし片方の手か足があなたをつまずかせるなら、それを切って捨ててしまいなさい。両手両足がそろったまま永遠の火に投げ込まれるよりは、片手片足になっても命にあずかる方がよい。 | 8 Si ta main ou ton pied entraînent ta chute, coupe-les et jette-les loin de toi ; mieux vaut pour toi entrer dans la vie manchot ou estropié que d’être jeté avec tes deux mains ou tes deux pieds dans le feu éternel ! | 8 Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee : it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire. |
| もし片方の目があなたをつまずかせるなら、えぐり出して捨ててしまいなさい。両方の目がそろったまま火の地獄に投げ込まれるよりは、一つの目になっても命にあずかる方がよい。」 | 9 Et si ton oeil entraîne ta chute, arrache-le et jette-le loin de toi ; mieux vaut pour toi entrer borgne dans la vie que d’être jeté avec tes deux yeux dans la géhenne de feu ! | 9 And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee : it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire. |
| 「これらの小さな者を一人でも軽んじないように気をつけなさい。言っておくが、彼らの天使たちは天でいつもわたしの天の父の御顔を仰いでいるのである。 | 10 « Gardez-vous de mépriser aucun de ces petits, car, je vous le dis, aux cieux leurs anges se tiennent sans cesse en présence de mon Père qui est aux cieux. | 10 Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones ; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven. |
| <底本に節が欠けている個所の異本による訳文>人の子は、失われたものを救うために来た。† | 11 | 11 For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost. |
| あなたがたはどう思うか。ある人が羊を百匹持っていて、その一匹が迷い出たとすれば、九十九匹を山に残しておいて、迷い出た一匹を捜しに行かないだろうか | 12 Quel est votre avis ? Si un homme a cent brebis et que l’une d’entre elles vienne à s’égarer, ne va-t-il pas laisser les quatre-vingt-dix-neuf autres dans la montagne pour aller à la recherche de celle qui s’est égarée ? | 12 How think ye ? if a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray ? |
| はっきり言っておくが、もし、それを見つけたら、迷わずにいた九十九匹より、その一匹のことを喜ぶだろう。 | 13 Et s’il parvient à la retrouver, en vérité je vous le déclare, il en a plus de joie que des quatre-vingt-dix-neuf qui ne se sont pas égarées. | 13 And if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth more of that sheep, than of the ninety and nine which went not astray. |
| そのように、これらの小さな者が一人でも滅びることは、あなたがたの天の父の御心ではない。」 | 14 Ainsi votre Père qui est aux cieux ne veut qu’aucun de ces petits ne se perde. | 14 Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish. |
