| L’Évangile d’aujourd’hui [1] nous donne une feuille de route générale, à nous d’en définir les modalités d’application concrète. Entre autres, je dirais que la procédure à l’intérieur de l’Église n’exclut pas en parallèle le lancement d’une procédure judiciaire civile ou pénale pour des fautes graves. Quand il y a atteinte à l’intégrité des biens et des personnes, l’affaire requiert la coercition physique sur la personne qui est l’apanage de l’État. | Today’s Gospel [2] gives us a general roadmap, it is up to us to define the modalities of its concrete applications. Among other things, I would say that the procedure within the Church does not exclude the initiation of civil or criminal legal proceedings for serious misconduct. When there is a violation of the integrity of property and persons, the case requires physical coercion on the person which is the prerogative of the state. |
| Cette précision étant dite, passons au cœur du sujet, la correction fraternelle entre chrétiens. Je le vois dans notre communauté de frères dominicains, c’est un art difficile mais nécessaire : la vie commune révèle nos idées fixes, nos limites intellectuelles et affectives, nos désirs de pouvoir et d’avoir. La correction fraternelle est nécessaire pour aider le frère à avancer sur le chemin de la sanctification, du Royaume de Dieu. | This precision being said, let us pass to the heart of the subject, the fraternal correction between Christians. I see it in our community of Dominican friars, it is a difficult but necessary art : living together reveals our fixed ideas, our intellectual and emotional limits, our desires for power and possessions. Fraternal correction is necessary to help the brother move forward on the path to sanctification, to the Kingdom of God. |
| C’est un art délicat car il s’agit que le frère puisse recevoir la correction avec profit, ce qui demande de la donner avec l’intention de relever le frère, de le faire grandir, dans la confiance que l’Esprit saint travaille en lui et qu’à Dieu tout est possible, y compris convertir le cœur du frère. | It is a delicate art because the brother must receive the correction with profit, which requires to give the correction with the intention to raise the brother up, to make him grow, in the confidence that the Holy Spirit works in him and that to God everything is possible, including converting the heart of the brother. |
| J’aime bien l’image d’un sac de pierres toutes râpeuses et pleines d’arêtes coupantes. Si on agite le sac, les pierres frottent les unes contre les autres, elles s’ébarbent mutuellement, les angles s’arrondissent, et l’on obtient à la fin des beaux galets bien polis, bien lisses, agréables au toucher et beaux au regard. Encore ne faut-il pas secouer trop violemment le sac, sinon les pierres vont se briser. | I like the image of a bag of rough stones full of sharp edges. If we shake the bag, the stones rub against each other, they deburr each other, the angles become rounded, and at the end we obtain beautiful, well-polished pebbles, very smooth, pleasant to the touch and beautiful to the look. Of course, we must not shake the bag too violently, otherwise the stones will break. |
| Une des pierres se refuse à se laisser polir, elle n’a pas envie de souffrir le contact rugueux des autres pierres, elle veut garder ses aspérités et continuer de couper la main qui la prend. Elle n’entre pas dans le projet de Dieu qui veut une épouse belle et pure, la pierre ne veut pas entrer dans une démarche de sanctification. Alors on la sort du sac, alors elle sort de la communauté, de l’Église. Peut-être demain changera-t-elle d’avis. C’est à elle de voir. | One of the stones refuses to be polished, it does not want to suffer the rough contact of the other stones, it wants to keep its rough edges and go on cutting the hand that takes it. It does not enter into the plan of God who wants a beautiful and pure bride, he does not want to enter into a process of sanctification. So we take it out of the bag, he comes out of the Church. Maybe he will change his mind tomorrow. It is up to him. |

| 「兄弟があなたに対して罪を犯したなら、行って二人だけのところで忠告しなさい。言うことを聞き入れたら、兄弟を得たことになる | 15 « Si ton frère vient à pécher, va le trouver et fais-lui tes reproches seul à seul. S’il t’écoute, tu auras gagné ton frère. | 15 Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone : if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. |
| 聞き入れなければ、ほかに一人か二人、一緒に連れて行きなさい。すべてのことが、二人または三人の証人の口によって確定されるようになるためである。 | 16 S’il ne t’écoute pas, prends encore avec toi une ou deux personnes pour que toute affaire soit décidée sur la parole de deux ou trois témoins. | 16 But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. |
| それでも聞き入れなければ、教会に申し出なさい。教会の言うことも聞き入れないなら、その人を異邦人か徴税人と同様に見なしなさい。 | 17 S’il refuse de les écouter, dis-le à l’Église, et s’il refuse d’écouter même l’Église, qu’il soit pour toi comme le païen et le collecteur d’impôts. | 17 And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church : but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican. |
| はっきり言っておく。あなたがたが地上でつなぐことは、天上でもつながれ、あなたがたが地上で解くことは、天上でも解かれる。 | 18 En vérité, je vous le déclare : tout ce que vous lierez sur la terre sera lié au ciel, et tout ce que vous délierez sur la terre sera délié au ciel. | 18 Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven : and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. |
| また、はっきり言っておくが、どんな願い事であれ、あなたがたのうち二人が地上で心を一つにして求めるなら、わたしの天の父はそれをかなえてくださる。 | 19 « Je vous le déclare encore, si deux d’entre vous, sur la terre, se mettent d’accord pour demander quoi que ce soit, cela leur sera accordé par mon Père qui est aux cieux. | 19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. |
| 二人または三人がわたしの名によって集まるところには、わたしもその中にいるのである。」 | 20 Car, là où deux ou trois se trouvent réunis en mon nom, je suis au milieu d’eux. » | 20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. |
