| Mes amis, en ce jeudi de la première semaine de Carême dans l’Église catholique latine [1], Jésus nous encourage à solliciter Dieu avec confiance. Mais peut-on tout demander ou y a-t-il des choses à ne pas demander ? | My friends, on this Thursday of the first week of Lent in the Latin Catholic Church [2], Jesus encourages us to ask God with confidence. But are we allowed to ask for everything or are there things not to be asked ? |
| Quand on est déjà bien avancé sur la voie spirituelle, on peut demander l’Esprit Saint, on peut demander le pain et le vin de la table eucharistique, on peut demander à entrer dans le Royaume de Dieu. | When we are already well advanced on the spiritual path, we can ask for the Holy Spirit, we can ask for the bread and wine of the Eucharistic table, we can ask to enter the Kingdom of God. |
| Mais quand on en est au tout début de la suite du Christ ? Si on est vrai avec soi-même, on devrait demander ce qui compte vraiment pour nous : le succès en affaires et en amour, la santé, la guérison d’une maladie grave, la victoire sur les méchants. | But when we are at the very beginning in the following of Christ ? If we are true to ourselves, we should ask for what really matters to us : success in business and love, health, recovery from serious illness, victory over the wicked. |
| Un enfant handicapé demandera à pouvoir se lever de son fauteuil à roulettes pour pouvoir aller jouer au football avec ses amis. | A disabled child will ask to be able to get up from his wheelchair so that he can go and play football with his friends. |
| Ces demandes matérielles, égocentrées, mondaines, est-ce qu’on peut les soumettre à Dieu ? | These material, egocentric, worldly demands, can we ask God for them ? |
| Allons plus loin si vous voulez bien : quelqu’un au coeur perverti, s’il est vrai avec lui-même, devrait demander à Dieu la réussite de son désir mauvais, ce qui engendrera injustice et souffrance pour les autres. Alors est-ce qu’il peut presenter une telle requête à Dieu ? Qu’en pensez-vous ? | Let’s go further if you will : someone with a perverted heart, if he is true to himself, should ask God for the success of his evil desire, which will bring injustice and suffering to others. So can he make such a request to God ? What do you think ? |
| Personnellement, je pense que Dieu nous prend là où nous nous trouvons réellement, alors nous avons à nous présenter devant Lui avec ce nous sommes réellement et ce que nous voulons réellement. | As far as I am concerned, I think that God takes us where we really stand and I think that we have to present us to Him with what we really are and what we really want |
| Je crois que le Dieu de Jésus Christ est un père et plus qu’un père : Il sait ce dont nous avons besoin, Il sait ce qu’Il peut nous donner et ce qu’Il ne peut pas nous donner. Alors sachons être vrais devant Lui et Lui saura convertir ce qui doit l’être, il saura redresser ce qui est tordu, il saura purifier et élever nos désirs. | I believe that the God of Jesus Christ is a father and more than a father : He knows what we need, He knows what to give us and what not to give us. So let us be true before Him and He will know how to convert what should be, He will know how to straighten out what is twisted, He will know how to purify and elevate our desires. |

| 「求めなさい。そうすれば、与えられる。探しなさい。そうすれば、見つかる。叩きなさい。そうすれば、開かれる。 | 7 « Demandez, on vous donnera ; cherchez, vous trouverez ; frappez, on vous ouvrira. | 7 Ask, and it shall be given you ; seek, and ye shall find ; knock, and it shall be opened unto you : |
| 誰でも、求める者は受け、探す者は見つけ、叩く者には開かれる。 | 8 En effet, quiconque demande reçoit, qui cherche trouve, à qui frappe on ouvrira. | 8 For every one that asketh receiveth ; and he that seeketh findeth ; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. |
| あなたがたの誰が、パンを欲しがる自分の子どもに、石を与えるだろうか。 | 9 Ou encore, qui d’entre vous, si son fils lui demande du pain, lui donnera une pierre ? | 9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone ? |
| 魚を欲しがるのに、蛇を与えるだろうか。 | 10 Ou s’il demande un poisson, lui donnera-t-il un serpent ? | 10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent ? |
| このように、あなたがたは悪い者でありながらも、自分の子どもには良い物を与えることを知っている。まして、天におられるあなたがたの父は、求める者に良い物をくださる。 | 11 Si donc vous, qui êtes mauvais, savez donner de bonnes choses à vos enfants, combien plus votre Père qui est aux cieux donnera-t-il de bonnes choses à ceux qui le lui demandent. | 11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him ? |
