| Mes amis, en ce vendredi de la première semaine de Carême dans l’Église catholique latine [1], le passage d’Évangile de ce jour m’a fait penser à un marriage. | My friends, on this Friday of the first week of Lent in the Latin Catholic Church [2], today’s Gospel reminded me of a wedding. |
| Comme je suis invité, je me parfume, je mets mon meilleur costume. Une fois sur place, je montre mon côté le plus avenant. Il y a peut-être dans l’assistance des personnes que j’ai lésées, que j’ai maltraitées par mes actes ou mes paroles, mais je fais semblant de rien et elles aussi. | As I am invited, I perfume myself, I put on my best costume. Once there, I show my most pleasant side. There may be people in the audience that I have wronged or mistreated by words or deeds, but I pretend nothing has happened and so do they. |
| Mes amis, lors des noces du Fils de Dieu avec la Création, on ne pourra plus faire semblant. | My friends, at the wedding of the Son of God with the Creation, we will no longer be able to pretend. |
| Il faudra être réellement heureux de rencontrer les autres invités, nos yeux brilleront de se retrouver avec des amis. Toute notre attitude extérieure reflètera la joie et l’amour qui remplissent notre cœur jusqu’à en déborder, sans aucune trace d’amertume, de ressentiment ou de colère. | We will have to be really happy to meet the other guests, our eyes will shine to be together with friends, our face will be without any shadow or cloudiness. All of our outward attitude will reflect the joy and love in our brimming hearts without any trace of bitterness, resentment or anger |
| Et on ne pourra pas faire semblant. | And pretending will be impossible |
| Alors dans ce temps intermédiaire où nous nous trouvons, écoutons Jésus et ses demandes exigeantes : elles nous préparent aux noces éternelles qui se profilent à l’horizon. | So in this intermediate time in which we stand, let us listen to Jesus’ demanding requests : they prepare us for the eternal wedding celebration which is looming on the horizon. |
| Ces exigences peuvent paraître difficiles, sinon impossibles. Mais ne nous fixons pas sur elles, regardons celui qui les pose : ce qu’il demande, il donne de l’accomplir par sa Passion. | These requirements may seem difficult, if not impossible. But let’s not focus on them, let’s look at the one who lays them down : he gives the means to accomplish them through his Passion. |
| Quand le peuple d’Israël était mordu par les serpents du desert, il regardait le serpent fixé au sommet du mat et il était guéri du poison qui brûlait ses chairs. | When the people of Israel were bitten by the snakes in the desert, they looked at the snake fixed to the top of the mast and they were healed from the burning poison in their flesh. |

| 言っておくが、あなたがたの義が律法学者やファリサイ派の人々の義にまさっていなければ、あなたがたは決して天の国に入ることができない。」 | 20 Car je vous le dis : si votre justice ne surpasse pas celle des scribes et des Pharisiens, non, vous n’entrerez pas dans le Royaume des cieux. | 20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven. |
| 「あなたがたも聞いているとおり、昔の人は、『殺すな。人を殺した者は裁きを受ける』と命じられている。 | 21 « Vous avez appris qu’il a été dit aux anciens : Tu ne commettras pas de meurtre ; celui qui commettra un meurtre en répondra au tribunal. | 21 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill ; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment : |
| しかし、私は言っておく。きょうだいに腹を立てる者は誰でも裁きを受ける。きょうだいに『馬鹿』と言う者は、最高法院に引き渡され、『愚か者』と言う者は、ゲヘナの火に投げ込まれる。 | 22 Et moi, je vous le dis : quiconque se met en colère contre son frère en répondra au tribunal ; celui qui dira à son frère : ‹Imbécile› sera justiciable du Sanhédrin ; celui qui dira : ‹Fou› sera passible de la géhenne de feu. | 22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment : and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council : but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire. |
| だから、あなたが祭壇に供え物を献げようとし、きょうだいが自分に恨みを抱いていることをそこで思い出したなら、 | 23 Quand donc tu vas présenter ton offrande à l’autel, si là tu te souviens que ton frère a quelque chose contre toi, | 23 Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee ; |
| その供え物を祭壇の前に置き、まず行って、きょうだいと仲直りをし、それから帰って来て、供え物を献げなさい。 | 24 laisse là ton offrande, devant l’autel, et va d’abord te réconcilier avec ton frère ; viens alors présenter ton offrande. | 24 Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way ; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift. |
| あなたを訴える人と一緒に道を行くときには、途中で早く和解しなさい。さもないと、その人はあなたを裁判官に引き渡し、裁判官は下役に引き渡し、あなたは牢に投げ込まれるに違いない。 | 25 Mets-toi vite d’accord avec ton adversaire, tant que tu es encore en chemin avec lui, de peur que cet adversaire ne te livre au juge, le juge au gendarme, et que tu ne sois jeté en prison. | 25 Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him ; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison. |
| よく言っておく。最後の一クァドランスを支払うまで、決してそこから出ることはできない。」 | 26 En vérité, je te le déclare : tu n’en sortiras pas tant que tu n’auras pas payé jusqu’au dernier centime. | 26 Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing. |
