Le Christ en sa Passion endure la rapacité des autorités avides de pouvoir et prêtes à tout pour le conserver ; il endure la cruauté de la soldatesque prenant plaisir à humilier un homme ligoté ; tout aussi douloureusement quoique sur un autre plan, il endure la lâcheté et l’incompréhension de ses disciples pourtant les plus proches. Alors Jésus endure le déchaînement des forces du mal, il endure la mort, parce qu’il sait qu’elles n’auront pas le dernier mot. Le Père aura le dernier mot en ressuscitant son Fils.
