| L’Esprit saint apparaît comme un guide dans l’évangile d’aujourd’hui [1]. Qui dit guide dit chemin, avec ses trois moments : le début du chemin, où l’on part en tournant le dos à sa maison, à son quotidien ; le chemin lui-même, où il faut faire face à des difficultés imprévues et où l’on peut être tenté par le découragement et vouloir faire demi-tour ; et enfin, la fin du chemin, l’arrivée à destination, où l’on peut se reposer et raconter son périple à ses amis. | The Holy Spirit appears as a guide in today’s Gospel [2]. A guide means a path, with its three stages : the start of the path, when you turn your back on your home and daily life ; the path itself, when you have to face unexpected difficulties and may be tempted by discouragement to turn back ; and finally, the end of the path, when you reach your destination, and can rest and tell your friends about your path. |

| Pour conclure, je vous invite à dépasser cette représentation en terme de déplacement physique avec saint Augustin : le chemin auquel est convié le disciple du Christ n’est pas un changement de lieu mais un changement d’état. Pour Augustin, il s’agit en effet de quitter la « région de la dissemblance », celle de l’état de pécheur incapable de faire la volonté du Père et de lui plaire, pour toujours plus ressembler au Fils sous l’action de l’Esprit saint, jusqu’à devenir soi-même un autre Christ, un autre fils, mais adoptif. Le chemin est un chemin de conversion, de transformation, de métamorphose – de transfiguration. | To conclude, I invite you to go beyond this representation in terms of physical displacement with Saint Augustine : the path to which the disciple of Christ is invited is not a change of place, but a change of state.
