Voir Évangile de Luc 2,22-32 - See Gospel by Lukas 2,22-32

Dans l’évangile d’aujourd’hui [1], le vieil homme Syméon peut mourir dans la paix : Dieu lui a révélé la réalisation de ce qu’il attendait depuis longtemps, lui et pas seulement lui mais aussi le peuple élu, et pas seulement le peuple élu mais aussi toutes les nations. In today’s Gospel [2], the old man Simeon can die in peace : God has revealed to him the realization of what he had long been waiting for, he and not only he but also the chosen people, and not only the chosen people but also all the nations.
Syméon sait par révélation divine que le Royaume de Dieu a commencé dans ce bébé, un Royaume où la mort et le mal n’ont pas leur place. Aussi peut-il envisager de mourir dans la paix. Simeon knows by divine revelation that the Kingdom of God has begun in this baby, a Kingdom where death and evil have no place. So he can look forward to dying in peace.
Martin Luther King dit quelque chose de semblable dans son dernier sermon : Martin Luther King said something similar in his last sermon :
« Je ne sais pas ce qui va se passer maintenant. Des jours difficiles nous attendent. Mais cela n’a plus d’importance pour moi. Parce que j’ai atteint le sommet de la montagne. Because I’ve been to the mountaintop. And I don’t mind. Like anybody, I would like to live a long life. Longevity has its place. But I’m not concerned about that now. I just want to do God’s will. And He’s allowed me to go up to the mountain. And I’ve looked over. And I’ve seen the promised land. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight, that we, as a people will get to the promised land. And I’m happy tonight. I’m not worried about anything. I’m not fearing any man. Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord.” [3]”
Martin Luther King n’a plus peur de mourir car il vu dans une révélation la Terre promise. Il pressent qu’il n’y entrera pas mais que le peuple y entrera [4]. Martin Luther King was no longer afraid to die, for in a revelation he saw the Promised Land. He senses that he will not enter it, but that the people will [5].
Et de fait, Martin Luther King mourra assassiné le lendemain, le 3 avril 1968, à Memphis (Tennessee, Etats-Unis). And indeed, Martin Luther King would die the very next day, on April 3, 1968, in Memphis (Tennessee, USA), assassinated.
Concluons. Let’s conclude.
Que Dieu nous révèle son Royaume en train de se réaliser dans, à travers et sous son Fils. Alors nous pourrons nous endormir dans la paix : demain, nous nous réveillerons, il fera plein jour et dans la chaude et radieuse lumière du Christ ressuscité, nous verrons le sens caché à l’œuvre dans le monde depuis l’origine. May God reveal to us his Kingdom being realized in, through and under his Son. Then we can fall asleep in peace : tomorrow we’ll wake up to full daylight, and in the warm, radiant light of the Risen Christ, we’ll see the hidden meaning at work in the world from the very beginning.

２６　そして、　主が遣わすメシアに会うまでは決して死なない、とのお告げを聖霊から受けていた。 . 26 And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord’s Christ. 26 Il lui avait été révélé par l’Esprit Saint qu’il ne verrait pas la mort avant d’avoir vu le Christ du Seigneur.

３３父と母は、幼子についてこのように言れたことに驚いていた。 33 And Joseph and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him 33 Le père et la mère de l’enfant étaient étonnés de ce qu’on disait de lui.

３６また、アシェル族のファヌエルの娘で、アンナという女預言者がいた。非常に年を取っていて、若いとき嫁いてから七年間　夫と共に暮らしたが、 36 And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser : she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her virginity ; 36 Il y avait aussi une prophétesse, Anne, fille de Phanuel, de la tribu d’Aser. ３８その時、近ずいて来て神を賛美し、エルサレムの救いを待ち望んでいる人々皆に幼子のことを話した。 38 And she coming in that instant gave thanks likewise unto the Lord, and spake of him to all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem. 38 Survenant au même moment, elle se mit à célébrer Dieu et à parler de l’enfant à tous ceux qui attendaient la libération de Jérusalem.

So Moses the servant of the LORD died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the LORD.
