1§ We are coming to the end of the 2025–2026 academic year. This is an opportunity for me to take stock of my heritage initiative.
I am currently, in the final quarter of my life, setting aside my various lectures and talks on religion and the religious man.

2§ This man, always dissatisfied with what he sees and seeking to glimpse what lies beyond the visible. What lies beyond the mountain ? What lies beyond the sky ?

1. The heritage initiative

The website and the YouTube channel

3§ Since 2007, I have been maintaining a website www.esperer-isshoni.fr which will soon be 20 years old. It contains 800 articles that set out what I have said and taught on matters of religion, covering both my Catholic faith and religion in general, including Asian religious traditions.

4§ It also contains my teachings on the ‘third man’ between the Christian and the non-Christian, namely the modern and post-modern man who permeates our lives, whether we like it or not.

5§ For several years now, I’d been thinking about setting up a video site, a YouTube channel, for example. I took the plunge in December last year, with my first video posted in December 2025. The YouTube channel now features six months’ worth of published videos – 29 in total – at a rate of one video published each week on Saturdays at around 10.30 pm.

6§ The channel offers three categories of videos, three playlists :

• teachings, which are relatively academic in nature, or at least less confessional ;
• then homilies, the second category, which are entirely confessional ;
• and ‘landmarks’, in other words, points of reference that define the scope of the Christian faith.

7§ I have named this YouTube channel “The Big Picture – La grande image”, a title that is both French and English. The idea is to go beyond our horizontal perspective by introducing a vertical dimension.

8§ These videos have developed in parallel with my website, with the video linking to the site and vice versa.

• For example, the (improved) transcript of the video can be found on the website www.esperer-isshoni.fr , whilst the improved transcript on the website links to the video on YouTube.
• As a more detailed supplement to the Playlists offered by YouTube, the website displays a list of videos with a brief description at the top of the page : see the article ‘The YouTube channel “The Big Picture – La grande image” : the videos’.

I hope that in this way I have established a virtuous circle between the two media, both drawing on the same source : my apostolic work.

The transition to trilingualism for written sections, transcripts and articles

9§ In April 2026, I wondered how I might develop my apostolate with a focus on Japan. And so I decided to publish my written contributions in three languages : French, English and Japanese.

10§ As Japan is a country dear to my heart, I am delighted by this opportunity to reach Japanese hearts and help them discover Christ.

11§ Let us move on from the heritage-focused approach—with its website, active since 2007, and its YouTube channel, active since the end of 2025—and turn to the editorial line.

2. The editorial line

12§ I see myself as a content provider, drawing inspiration from Confucius, the ideal figure of the master (in the sense of a teacher) in Sinicised Asia. He is said to have remarked in his Analects – I cannot find the reference :

“When I speak of a square, I describe one angle and wait for the student to address the other three” [1].

13§ I adopt his approach :

• 1) not to say everything, and
• 2) to say just enough so that the student or listener can then, on their own, explore the subject further and form their own ideas based on what I have offered as a starting point.

14§ My editorial approach avoids descending to a level of complexity that is too high ; it aims to remain accessible whilst maintaining a certain standard.

15§ In some leaflets, hikes are classified by order of difficulty based on the number of walking shoes, or boots in English. In my view, the content is neither at level 3 boots (maximum difficulty) nor at level 0 boot (no difficulty), but rather between 1 and 2 boots

16§ Having reviewed our heritage policy and outlined our editorial approach, let us now turn to the final point regarding the outlook for next year.

3. Outlook for 2026–2027

17§ During the summer break, video uploads will be suspended. I shall use this break to consider expanding my YouTube channel ‘The Big Picture – La grande image’ to cover the Asian religious traditions I have been teaching for fifteen years.
Furthermore, I shall complete the translation of the half of the videos that are still only available in French.

18§ Regarding the website www.esperer-isshoni.fr, I proposed an annual series on Christianity for the year 2024–2025, with one article published every Sunday. The following year, 2025–2026, the annual series focused on religion in Japan. This too ends at the summer break.

19§ For next year, 2026–2027, I plan to continue with a programme dedicated to an Asian spiritual or religious tradition. I am torn between Buddhism, which encompasses both Indianised and Sinicised Asia, and a programme centred on China – a topic of significant current interest – featuring Confucianism and Taoism.

1§ 2025–2026年度も終わりに近づいてまいりました。これを機に、私の「遺産」に関する取り組みを振り返ってみたいと思います。
私は現在、人生の最後の四半期を迎え、宗教や「宗教的な人間」に関する様々な講義や講演を一時的に休止しております。

2§ この人間は、目に見えるものに常に不満を抱き、目に見えるものの向こう側にあるものを垣間見ようと求めています。山の向こうには何があるのでしょうか？空の向こうには何があるのでしょうか？

ウェブサイトとYouTubeチャンネル

3§ 2007年以来、私はウェブサイト www.esperer-isshoni.fr を運営しており、まもなく開設から20年を迎えます。このサイトには、宗教に関する私の発言や教えをまとめた800本の記事が掲載されており、私のカトリック信仰から、アジアの宗教的伝統を含む一般的な宗教に至るまで、幅広く網羅しています。

4§ また、キリスト教徒と非キリスト教徒の間に位置する「第三の人間」、すなわち、私たちが好むと好まざるとにかかわらず、私たちの生活に浸透している現代人およびポストモダン人に関する私の教えも掲載されています。

5§ ここ数年、私は動画サイト、例えばYouTubeチャンネルの開設について考えていました。昨年12月、ついに思い切って始め、2025年12月に最初の動画を公開いたしました。YouTubeチャンネルには現在、6ヶ月分の動画――計29本――が掲載されており、毎週土曜日の午後10時30分頃に1本ずつ公開されています。

6§ このチャンネルでは、3つのカテゴリーの動画、つまり3つのプレイリストを提供しています：

• 「教え」：比較的学術的な性質のもの、あるいは少なくとも個人的な告白の要素が少ないもの；
• 次に「説教」：完全に個人的な告白に焦点を当てたカテゴリー；
• そして「ランドマーク」、つまりキリスト教信仰の範囲を定義する基準点となるもの。

7§ 私はこの YouTube チャンネルを「The Big Picture – La grande image」と名付けました。これはフランス語と英語の両方を兼ねたタイトルです。その意図は、垂直的な次元を取り入れることで、私たちの水平的な視点を超えていくことにあります。

8§ これらの動画は私のウェブサイトと並行して発展しており、動画からサイトへ、またサイトから動画へと相互にリンクが張られています。

• 例えば、動画の（修正済みの）文字起こしは、ウェブサイト www.esperer-isshoni.fr でご覧いただけますが、ウェブサイトの修正済み文字起こしからは、YouTube上の動画へリンクされています。

9§ 2026年4月、私は日本を重点に据えて、どのようにして自分の使徒的活動を展開していけるか考えました。そこで、執筆した記事をフランス語、英語、日本語の3か国語で公開することに決めました。

10§ 日本は私にとって特別な思い入れのある国ですので、日本人の心に寄り添い、キリストとの出会いを助けることができるこの機会に、大変嬉しく思っております。

11§ 2007年から運営されているウェブサイトや、2025年末から運用されているYouTubeチャンネルといった、遺産に焦点を当てたアプローチから一歩踏み出し、編集方針についてお話ししましょう。

2. 編集方針

12§ 私は、中国文化の影響を受けたアジアにおける師（教師という意味での）の理想像である孔子からインスピレーションを得て、コンテンツプロバイダーとしての役割を担っていると考えています。孔子は、その『論語』の中で、次のように述べたとされています――出典は見つかりません：

「私が『四角』について語る際、一つの角について説明し、残りの三つの角については生徒が言及するのを待つのです」 [2]。

13§ 私は彼のアプローチを採用しています：

• 1) すべてを語り尽くさないこと、そして
• 2) 学生や聴衆が、私が提示した出発点に基づいて、自らその主題をさらに探求し、独自の考えを形成できるよう、必要最小限のことだけを伝えること。

14§ 私の編集方針は、複雑さを過度に高めすぎないよう配慮しており、一定の基準を維持しつつ、理解しやすい内容にすることを目指しています。

15§ 一部のパンフレットでは、ハイキングコースが難易度の順に、ウォーキングシューズの数、あるいは英語でブーツの数に基づいて分類されています。私の見解では、このコンテンツはレベル3 ブーツ（最高難易度）でも、レベル0 ブーツ（難易度なし）でもなく、むしろ1と2 ブーツの中間にあると考えます

16§ 遺産に関する方針を見直し、編集方針の概要を説明しましたので、次は来年の見通しに関する最後のポイントに移りましょう。

3. 2026–2027年の見通し

17§ 夏休み期間中は、動画のアップロードを一時停止いたします。この休暇期間を利用して、私が15年間にわたり教えてきたアジアの宗教的伝統を取り上げるよう、私の YouTubeチャンネル 「The Big Picture – La grande image」の拡充を検討する予定です。
さらに、現在フランス語版のみが公開されている動画の半分の翻訳を完了させる予定です。

18§ ウェブサイト www.esperer-isshoni.fr に関しまして、2024–2025年度はキリスト教をテーマとした年次連載を企画し、毎週日曜日に1本の記事を公開する予定です。翌年の2025–2026年度は、日本の宗教に焦点を当てた年次連載を行いました。これも夏休みをもって終了します。

19§来年度（2026–2027年）については、アジアの精神的・宗教的伝統に焦点を当てた企画を継続する予定です。インド化および中国化されたアジアの両方を包含する仏教と、現在大きな関心を集めている中国を中心とした企画――儒教や道教を取り上げるもの――のどちらにするか、迷っています。

1§ Nous arrivons à la fin de cette année universitaire 2025-2026. C’est l’occasion pour moi de faire le point sur ma démarche patrimoniale.
Je suis en train de mettre en place sur le dernier quart de ma vie la sanctuarisation de mes différents enseignements, interventions, sur le fait religieux et l’homme religieux.

2§ Cet homme, toujours insatisfait de ce qu’il voit et qui cherche à voir ce qu’il y a au-delà du visible. Qu’est-ce qu’il y a au -delà de la montagne ? Qu’est-ce qu’il y a au -delà du ciel ?

1. La démarche patrimoniale

Le site internet et la chaîne YouTube
3§ Depuis 2007, j’entretiens un site internet www.esperer-isshoni.fr qui va avoir bientôt 20 ans. Il contient 800 articles qui retracent ce que j’ai pu dire et enseigner sur le fait religieux, aussi bien sur ma confession chrétienne catholique, que sur le fait religieux en général, avec les traditions religieuses asiatiques.

4§ Il contient aussi mon enseignement sur le « troisième homme » entre le chrétien et le non-chrétien, à savoir l’homme moderne et post-moderne qui nous infuse, qu’on le veuille ou non.

5§ Depuis quelques années, j’avais l’idée de faire un site vidéo, une chaîne YouTube par exemple. J’ai franchi le pas en décembre de l’année dernière, avec une première vidéo postée en décembre 2025. Maintenant, la chaîne YouTube contient six mois de vidéos publiées, soit 29 vidéos à raison d’une vidéo publiée par semaine le samedi vers 22h30.

6§ La chaîne propose trois catégories de vidéos, trois playlists :

• des enseignements, plutôt quelque chose de relativement académique, en tout cas moins confessant ;
• puis des homélies, la deuxième branche, entièrement confessante ;
• et des « balises », autrement dit des bornes qui délimitent le champ religieux chrétien.

7§ J’ai appelé cette chaîne YouTube "The Big Picture - La grande image", un titre à la fois français et anglais. L’idée est de dépasser notre vision horizontale en lui injectant une dimension verticale.

8§ Ces vidéos ont avancé en parallèle de mon site Internet, la vidéo renvoyant au site et inversement.

• Par exemple, la transcription (améliorée) de la vidéo figure sur le site Internet www.esperer-isshoni.fr , tandis que la transcription améliorée du site Internet renvoie à la vidéo sur YouTube.
• En complément plus détaillé que les Playlists proposées par Youtube, le site affiche en haut de sa page la liste des vidéos avec un bref descriptif : voir l’article « La chaîne YouTube "The Big Picture - La grande image" : les vidéos ».

J’espère avoir mis ainsi en place un cercle vertueux entre les deux médias, toutes deux s’alimentant à la même source, celle de mon activité apostolique.

Le passage au tri-linguisme des parties écrites, transcriptions et articles

9§ En avril 2026, je me suis demandé comment développer mon apostolat en direction du Japon. E j’ai décidé de publier mes interventions écrites en trois langues, français, anglais et japonais.

10§ Le Japon étant un pays cher à mon cœur, je suis heureux de cette opportunité d’atteindre les cœurs japonais et de leur faire découvrir le Christ.

11§ Quittons la démarche patrimoniale avec son site Internet depuis 2007 et sa chaîne YouTube depuis la fin de l’année 2025 et passons à la ligne éditoriale.

2. La ligne éditoriale

12§ Je me profile comme un fournisseur de contenu, en m’inspirant de Confucius, la figure idéale du maître (au sens d’enseignant) en Asie sinisée. Il aurait dit dans ses Entretiens - je n’arrive pas à trouver la référence :

"Quand je parle d’un carré, je décris un angle et j’attends que l’étudiant aborde les trois autres angles" [3].

13§ Je fais mienne sa démarche :

• 1) ne pas tout dire et
• 2) dire ce qu’il faut pour que l’étudiant ou l’auditeur, par lui-même ensuite approfondisse et fasse son idée à lui à partir de ce que j’ai proposé comme point de départ.

14§ Ma ligne éditoriale évite de descendre à un niveau de complexité trop important, elle entend rester accessible tout en conservant une certaine exigence.

15§ Sur certains prospectus, les randonnées sont classées par ordre de difficulté en fonction du nombre de chaussures de marche, de boots en anglais. Selon moi, le contenu ne se situe ni au niveau 3 boots (difficulté maximale) ni au niveau 0 boot (aucune difficulté), mais plutôt entre 1 et 2 boots

16§ Après avoir fait le tour de la politique patrimoniale et développé la ligne éditoriale, abordons le dernier point sur les perspectives de l’an prochain.

3. Les perspectives pour l’année 2026 - 2027

17§ Pendant la pause estivale, la publication des vidéos s’arrête. Je profiterai de cette pause pour réfléchir à l’ouverture de ma chaîne YouTube « The Big Picture – La grande image » aux traditions religieuses asiatiques que j’ai enseignées pendant quinze ans.
Par ailleurs, je vais achever de traduire la moitié des vidéos encore en français seulement.

18§ Concernant le site internet www.esperer-isshoni.fr, j’ai proposé un parcours annuel sur le christianisme pendant l’année 2024-2025, à raison d’un article chaque dimanche. L’année suivante, 2025-2026, le parcours annuel portait sur le fait religieux au Japon. Il se termine lui aussi à la pause estivale.

19§ Pour l’année prochaine 2026-2027, je pense continuer sur un programme dédié à une tradition spirituelle ou religieuse asiatique. J’hésite entre le bouddhisme, qui concerne aussi bien l’Asie indianisée que sinisée, ou bien un programme centré sur la Chine, objet d’actualité important, avec le confucianisme et le taoïsme.
